About Enterprise Design (EDG) Labs
Enterprise Design Labs ("EDGLABS") provides organizations the tools to create systemic models of the organization and its constituent component elements as systems. These models are utilized by managers to improve strategic management and operational management processes.
Value Proposition
Our tools make it easy for organizations to formally define their organizations as systems with strategic management processes that evolve and change the organization, and operational management processes that create and deliver value to customers. The systemic model of the organization enables shared understanding and consensus among managers - those that would intervene to facilitate the implementation and execution of the strategy to attain organization goals. Our model-based approach supplements traditional approaches to strategy development and execution and provides the means to analyze and validate strategic plans and crafted strategies to ensure viability (soundness) and coherence.
Mission
Our mission is to make it easier for managers to craft sound strategies, effectively implement and successfully execute these strategies through a systematic and model-based approaches to managerial decision-making to better strategic management and operations management. Our approach is tailored and user-driven reducing the need for high priced consultants for small businesses. Managers can create function models of their intended strategy within the context of situational models of the business organization and its strategic dependency relationships the external environments that is used in simulation experiments to improve shared understanding of an abstract concept of strategy and inform consensus and acceptability decisions.

Our Story
We are motivated by the desire to address the high rates of strategy implementation and execution failures that plague most business organizations (both for profit and non-profit) today due to the lack of an effective strategic management process model. The causes of these failures are numerous and varied, but most of them are rooted in lack of systematic method to address poor strategic issues diagnosis and problem formulation, lack of strategic decision-making process, and lack of effective management system to support strategy formulation, implementation and execution .
Our approach and methods enable organizations to create goals-oriented strategy models, and system models of the organization and strategic management processes to effectively drive model-based strategy formulation, implementation and execution. Our approach complements traditional strategic planning, strategy formulation and implementation approaches; it provides an integrated system model that enables analysis and evaluation of strategies resulting from the traditional strategic planning process and informs managements efforts in effective strategy implementation and successful execution.

Why Choose Us
Most organizations and businesses have difficulty developing viable strategy to drive sustainable organization growth and profitability. Small and medium size businesses are business strategies and/or plans that can be validated and evaluated to establish their effectiveness. Most of of these businesses use tools and methods such as guidelines, word/pdf document templates, etc. available to them are inadequate as they produce descriptive and unstructured outputs - strategies, strategy statements, plans, etc. - that cannot effectively be validated and evaluated. It turns out that there are barriers to ensuring shared understanding of the contents of these documents since comprehension requires some level of interpretation which is subject to the mental models of the various individuals and managers in the organization.
Our model-based approach complements traditional approaches to developing strategies and plans; it allows users to create explicit models of the intended goals at various levels in the organization, intended strategies and components of plans that can be validated for completeness, acceptance, alignment, and coherence as well as evaluated for performance. Our approach recognizes the need to strengthen and build capacity in strategic thinking, leadership skills, problem formulation, and design of effective performance measurement systems.
