Success Stories - Case Studies
The following are
examples and cases of solutions based on the IDL model-driven
and simulation technologies.
In 2000 when the Citigroup Network Economics group needed
to better manage and control the total indirect expense costs
of telecom network circuit assets, IDL’s domain specific
modeling tools and our partner's BPMS platform enabled them
to implement a distributed process and workflow-driven solution
that automated the circuit ordering and circuit asset lifecycle
management processes resulting in the elimination of erroneous
service billing charges and cost saving of over $10 Millions
per year.
In September of 2003, when the Citigroup Risk and Compliance
Management group needed a solution to a compliance violation
of Third Party Access regulation requirements to be deployed
by March 2004 to avoid sanctions from the regulators, the
IDL Retis DMM Studio provided the model-driven development
tools to build and deploy the Third Party Access Registry
application on time to avoid sanctions. The solution was also
the first service-oriented architecture (SOA) based “composite”
services distributed application at Citigroup. The application
used web services integration technology to access enterprise-wide
shared data services such as workforce profile, locations,
software assets, approved service providers, financial reporting
(such as organization structure and cost center and expense),
third party access data circuits, and IT computing platforms
and network equipment information.
The CITS group needed to provide a knowledge-based decision
management framework to automate and provide computer supported
assistance to business process owners and business managers
to help them better assess and manage operations technology
risk and meet compliance requirements. IDL’s Retis DMM
Studio domain specific models enabled model-driven development
and code generation for the decision framework, which was
deployed on an XPDL compliant BPMS platform supplemented with
a rules engine platform (open source Drools rules engine.
The Retis DMM Studio domain models provided specifications
of the governance model including risk management processes,
business operations management functions’ related core
processes, IT Services Management processes, and organization
structure model and resource models at Citigroup.
